
MPT Celebrates International Women’s Day 2024 by Promoting Inspire Inclusion!
(Yangon, 8th March 2024)- MPT, Myanmar’s first and leading telecommunications operator, proudly celebrates International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024 which takes place on 8th March 2024 by recognizing and appreciating the invaluable contributions of women from diverse backgrounds and locations. MPT strongly believes the power of Myanmar women and has already appreciated their contributions for the organization in keeping MPT as No.1 telecom operator in Myanmar.
The International Women’s Day 2024 campaign theme is Inspire Inclusion. According to the IWD, inspiring others to understand and values women’s inclusion and forging a better world. It is said that when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.
MPT’s dedication to gender equity and the involvement of women in both its workforce and leadership positions is its effort on inclusion and inspiring to women. Currently, 50% of MPT’s workforce are female employees and most of them are contributing under various departments ranging from first rate women’s leadership departments such as Marketing and Finance to sophisticated sectors such as Technology in the telecom operations of MPT.
However, according to the statement released by International Labour Organization (ILO) in July 2023, female workforce in Myanmar is 9.8 million in 2022 and it had dropped1.1 million due to COVID-19 situation. MPT is trying their best to retrieve that situation, during MPT’s recent Fresh Graduate Program 2023, MPT has welcomed about 30 women out of over 50 interns in total. This initiative demonstrates MPT’s true commitment to gender equality and providing opportunities for female professionals.
Daw Myint Myint Han, Deputy Chief Financial Officer of MPT-KSGM Joint Operations expressed that “We are proud to celebrate Internation Women’s Day 2024 as we appreciate the invaluable contribution of women and express gratitude for their support in our organization. As a woman leader in the telecom industry, I have learned that being active, alert, patient, and exercising good judgment are essential qualities for success. During my career life, I’ve also come to understand the importance of treating everyone with kindness, understanding, and sympathy. We strongly believe that we can overcome difficulties and create a better environment for everyone by inspiring each other and fostering understanding and sympathy.”
MPT’s efforts to get involve, recruit, and support talented women emphasizes the organization’s resilience and progressive approach to fostering diversity and inclusion. By prioritizing gender equality, MPT not only creates a more equitable workplace environment but also harnesses the diverse talents and perspectives of its workforce to drive innovation and success.
In the meantime, MPT has also contributed for the women in society. From 2018 to 2023, MPT has donated over 21 million MMK to 7 Nunnery Schools across Myanmar through its CSR nationwide charitable donation activities.
Additionally, MPT Club has supported 4.7 million MMK through MPT Club International Women’s Day promotion and MPT Club Mother’s Day Promotion to People’s Health Foundation (PHF) in April and July 2022.
