
MPT Celebrates World Blood Donor Day with Volunteer Blood Drive in Yangon
(Yangon, 12th June 2024)- MPT firmly believes blood donation is the necessary and fundamental to save lives and improves health of the people and initiated its blood donation drive with the participation of its volunteer employees since 2016. On June 12th, MPT has held blood donation activity together with staff and volunteers in Yangon at the National Blood Center to welcome the upcoming World Blood Donor Day on June 14th and total of over 100 volunteers participated and contributed their blood to needy.
Every day, millions of people in the country require safe blood (uncontaminated blood) for blood transfusion and MPT intends to fill the gap as much as possible with the help of staff and volunteers. According to the news published in Global News Light of Myanmar in January 2024, National Blood Center Myanmar distributes 90,000+ blood units to hospitals in 2023 enabling patients to receive treatments without worrying about finding blood donors, and the process do not incur significant expenses.
MPT is glad for being a contributor for the blood requirement of Myanmar and extend its heartfelt thanks to everyone who has participated in its ongoing blood donation drive over the past years. MPT has been conducting blood donation activities every 4 months apart from Covid-19 period since 2016, and together with MPT staff and volunteers from Yangon and other States and Regions over 12,048 blood bags have been donated to date. This time was participated by over 100 donors and blood bags were donated to National Blood Center.
MPT’s blood donation activity is one of the most necessity CSR initiatives which support our community in collaboration with the volunteers from public to bring positive changes/effect to community. With the support from staff and volunteers, MPT will continue its contribution for the society as always.
