
MPT Donated Essential Food and Supplies Worth Nearly 100 million MMK to Support Communities and Employees in Areas Affected by the Earthquake
(Yangon, 11 April 2025) – In the wake of the powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, impacting the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Mandalay Region, and Sagaing Region, MPT has taken swift action to support affected communities and employees. As part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, MPT is actively working to restore telecommunications services and extend critical support to those impacted.
To help customers stay connected during this crisis, MPT is offering for the 3rd time free unlimited Viber usage (text only) and 1,000 free on-net SMS (MPT to MPT) from 12th April to 22nd April. This support aims to ensure that individuals in affected areas can reach loved ones and access essential communication services without disruption.
In addition to connectivity measures, MPT is extending humanitarian support to affected communities and employees. On March 30, an additional 30 million MMK was contributed to support MPT employees impacted by the disaster. An additional 40 million MMK for relief efforts, including the provision of essential supplies such as rice, cooking oil, and financial assistance in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Mandalay, and Sagaing Regions.
Moreover, MPT employees initiated a donation drive, raising 27.5 million MMK to aid both affected communities and fellow employees and their families. In total, MPT has provided nearly 100 million MMK in relief and support to date.
On April 4 and 11, over 400 earthquake-affected households, including families of MPT employees—in Mandalay, Sagaing, and Nay Pyi Taw received vital supplies such as food, tents, clothing, medicine, and other necessities, personally delivered by MPT volunteer staff.






To ensure uninterrupted communication services and assist customers in affected regions, MPT has implemented several measures:
- Deployment of Cell on Wheel (COW) service in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area
- Ongoing repair and restoration work in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay Region, and Sagaing Region
- Reopening of MPT Own Shops to enhance service accessibility for customers
