(YAGNON, 6^th August 2026) _MPT, Myanmar’s first and leading telecommunications operator, has swiftly deployed emergency telecommunications solutions to help restore connectivity in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, where severe flooding caused by the Ngawun River has temporarily affected some mobile network facilities. The emergency deployment reflects MPT’s commitment to maintaining critical communications and supporting communities during natural disasters and emergency situations.

On 5^th August 2026, MPT installed two B2B Satellite Terminals and deployed a Cell on Wheel (COW) mobile base station to help restore essential communications and support emergency response efforts in the affected areas.

One B2B Satellite Terminal has been installed at the emergency relief camp at Sit Kwin Monastery in Sar Yay Kwin Village Tract, while the second has been deployed in Seik Noh Kone Village, Thakhwap Chaung Village Tract, enabling emergency communications to support local relief activities and community coordination. In addition, MPT has deployed a Cell on Wheel (COW) mobile base station in Sar Yay Kwin, allowing MPT customers access voice calls and mobile internet services. As part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment, MPT will further support flood-affected communities by offering 1GB of free data, 100 on-net minutes and 100 SMS with a 7-day validity to customers in the affected regions, effective 7^th August 2026.

Due to flooding, several mobile base stations in Laymyethna Township have been temporarily suspended to ensure operational safety. MPT’s technical teams are closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to restore normal telecommunications services as soon as water levels recede and site access becomes safe.
