MPT Extends Humanitarian Aid and Continued Connectivity to Flood-Affected Communities in Ayeyarwaddy Region

Published 17 Aug 2026

(Yangon, 17th August 2026) – MPT has extended its humanitarian assistance and emergency communication solutions to residents impacted by recent flooding along the Ngawun River basin in the Ayeyarwaddy Region. As floodwaters shifted downstream, MPT mobilized dedicated relief efforts to deliver essential supplies directly to displaced families.

On 14th and 15th August 2026, MPT distributed life-saving food supplies, clothing, medicines, and other basic necessities to over 300 households. Employee volunteers personally deployed to the field, reaching communities at the Ye Tan Khun Monastery Relief Camp in Ngathaingchaung and Relief Camps in Laymyethnar Township to ensure timely and direct support.

Alongside humanitarian relief, MPT mobilized critical technical infrastructure to support regional communication needs. To ensure uninterrupted coordination for emergency responders and local residents, MPT deployed two B2B satellite terminals and a Cell on Wheels (COW) mobile base station. Furthermore, complimentary telecommunications services such as Data, Voice and SMS were extended to customers in the affected zones from 7th to 13th August 2026 to facilitate seamless connectivity during the crisis.

U Ye Min Oo, Chief Operating Officer of MPT-KSGM Joint Operations, emphasized:

“Our hearts go out to the communities in the Ayeyarwaddy Region affected by these natural challenges. Fulfilling our role as a trusted partner, our priority is to deliver vital relief supplies and robust communication support where it is needed most.
