MPT Provides Donations and Offerings at Shwe Dagon Pagoda to Mark An Auspicious Consecration and Communal Offering Ceremony of New Calendar Year

(Yangon, 2 January 2018) Shwe Dagon Pagoda hosted 18000 Buddhist monks on Monday, 1 January 2018, with MPT playing a part in the success of this once-in-a-lifetime event. Organised in order to encourage the further success of Buddhism in Myanmar by the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, this event was the very first of its kind in Myanmar.

On behalf of its customer around the country, MPT presented humble donations to venerable monks entering through the Southern Gateway. Offerings included monk robes and other offerings.

The consecration and communal offering ceremonies were held with 18000 members of all-sects of Buddhist Sangha on the first day of the new calendar year 2018. The nightly New Year Dhamma Preaching is being held at the People’s Square for three days.

MPT also activated a new of public Wi-Fi network around Shwe Dagon Pagoda, to help manage the large influx of MPT users in the area. By using their MPT SIM cards, MPT users accessed a public Wi-Fi network around the Pagoda, saving on data costs and ensuring fast speeds during busy periods.
