MPT Brings Stronger Connections to More Communities with Expanded Network

Published 14 Jul 2026

(Yangon, 14th July 2026) _ Driven by a commitment to keep Myanmar connected, MPT is proud to announce a significant expansion of its mobile network, bringing reliable, high-quality communication services to more families and businesses. By completing 27 new network sites and upgrading nine existing locations to high-speed 4G LTE, MPT is empowering customers across eight states and regions to fully experience today’s digital lifestyle.

Today, a reliable mobile network is more than just a communication service it is an essential gateway to digital education, online businesses, and staying connected with family and friends. MPT’s latest network expansion focuses on areas that previously had limited coverage, opening up new opportunities for local communities to connect with cities and the rest of the world in real time. With the new network sites and upgraded 4G LTE service, people in these communities can now enjoy faster and more reliable connectivity. Farmers in remote areas will have access to real-time market information, helping them make better business decisions. Students will be able to easily search for educational resources and learn online, while small and medium-sized business owners can use digital technology to promote, distribute, and sell their products to a wider market. Through this expansion, MPT is helping bridge the digital divide and supporting the social and economic development of communities across Myanmar.

These recent expansions directly benefit communities through 27 new sites constructed across Nay Pyi Taw Council, Kayin State, Mon State, Shan State (East), Shan State (South), Ayeyarwaddy Region, and Bago Region (East), alongside significant speed enhancements from nine existing sites upgraded to advanced 4G LTE in the Magwe Region.

To celebrate this milestone with the local community, MPT successfully held a launch ceremony for a newly constructed site in Gwaypinyoe Village, Ottarathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council, on July 12, 2026. The rollout and activation of the remaining sites will continue seamlessly across the designated regions to ensure customers can quickly benefit from the improved connectivity.

Highlighting the balance between corporate development and customer care, Mr. Minoru NAGATA, Advisor to the CTO of MPTJO, shared, “In today’s digital era, telecommunications are the heartbeat of our daily lives. As the demand for mobile internet grows, we recognized a pressing need to reach communities that still face limited connectivity. By constructing these 27 new sites and upgrading nine others to 4G LTE, we are directly answering our customers’ calls for better access. Through these continuous enhancements, we remain deeply committed to delivering reliable services that not only keep people connected but also drive social and economic development all across Myanmar.”

Since initiating its 4G/LTE service in October 2016, MPT has rapidly accelerated the public’s transition to advanced mobile technologies. Today, MPT’s robust 4G/LTE network covers over 300 townships, connecting approximately 96% of the nation’s population. MPT extends its deepest gratitude to its customers for their continued trust, believing its role goes beyond merely providing a telecom network; it is about constantly innovating to enrich the digital lives of the people it serves.
