Myanmar’s first mobile donation platform that enables customers to seamlessly and securely donate to charitable organizations

(Yangon, 9 January 2017) – MPT today launched LoTaYa Helping Hands, its unique charitable donation platform which allows MPT customers to contribute funds to nominated organizations and causes, at a ceremony held at the Sule Shangri-La Hotel, Yangon. Through this innovative platform, the first-of-its-kind in Myanmar, users are able to view information on the organizations and their charitable activities on MPT’s popular LoTaYa portal before donating to their program of choice.
The launch ceremony of LoTaYa Helping Hands was attended by representatives from ten organizations participating on the platform, including the Phaung Daw Oo Monastic Education School, the Free Funeral Services Society, the Shwe Parami Health Care Foundation, the Se Sar Yeik Home For Aged, the Pyi Gyi Khin Women Association, the Shwe Minn Thar Foundation, the Lan Thit Foundation, the Thabawa Meditation Center (Thanlyin), the Community Development Association and Peace Winds Japan.
These groups which respectively focus on a range of charitable initiatives – from supporting free funeral services, education for underprivileged children, women empowerment, disaster relief, persons with disabilities to homes for the elderly amongst many other programs – can now receive fundraising support seamlessly and securely from MPT customers.
Mr. Toshitake Amamiya, Chief Executive Officer, MPT-KSGM Joint Operations said: “The people of Myanmar are known for their charitable nature, always ready to share their goodwill to those in need. Through this unique platform, MPT is connecting its customers, who are now able to donate conveniently and safely through their mobile devices, to organizations that are engaged in a variety of initiatives around the country. All the funds that are channeled to these organizations will come from the MPT customers themselves, a reflection of the Myanmar people’s generosity.
For MPT customers who want to find out more about the programs and make their donations, they may do so through the following steps:
Go online and access the LoTaYa Helping Hands page at http://helpinghands.foc.lotayamm.com/, where information on the various charitable programs are available, on their mobile web browser. ( helping hand link and icon is also located in Lo Ta Ya home page )
Select the program of their choice from the list on the page and amount they would like to contribute from their MPT credit balance.
Review the program selection code and contribution amount before proceeding with the donation.
A verification SMS will be sent to your MPT number, following which you just need to respond with the pre-composed message to confirm the donation. The amount will be deducted from your credit balance (if there is insufficient credit, you will receive a notification informing you that the process cannot be completed).
There are no extra charges for making the donations and all of the selected amounts are directed to the selected programs in full.
“As a responsible organization, we are committed to supporting the communities of Myanmar and we hope that this initiative will greatly aid fundraising efforts for noteworthy causes. We would like to encourage our more than 22 million customers on the nation’s widest mobile network to lend a hand and together make a positive difference for others,” added Mr. Toshitake Amamiya.
